Maybe we’re all trying to re-set our space in the scheme of things, right now. That takes time and space – things that aren’t always present in sufficient quantity during these strange times. The great news is that there are some simple fixes with multiple benefits, a great illustration of which can be seen through some of our guests – embarking upon, maybe, their first-ever walking break in Scotland. There’s been a definite glow to their personal bubble that is worthy of note.

So there we are . . . looking after these happy, shiny people and thinking there must be something to this. There can be no question about the sense of satisfaction that radiates from folk as they return from the hills of an evening: The up-shot has been that one or two brave souls amongst the staff at Rosemount Pitlochry have donned hiking boots and taken up walking, ourselves.

The secret ingredients of fresh air, stunning scenery, the steady, pounding rhythmn of walking boots on grass and gravel accompanying music of choice, gently massaging the ear, quickly reveal themselves. The uninitiated have to spend about 20 minutes adjusting to the different calls upon bodies that have perhaps become stiffened by too many hours sat in the company of electronic devices. Maybe the solitude makes the thoughts call a little louder too. That is but a fleeting transition, however, and they quickly join the ranks of those already in possession of the knowledge that human beings were designed to do this.
